Your absence

Absence is to love what wind is to fire;
It extinguishes the small, it inflames the great
It begins with just an hour
And then a day passes without hearing from you
Missing you is painful
It hurts so bad sleep cannot even soothe
And then it’s a week and I’m so weak
Because your voice has become like water
Quenches my thirst and grows my love
I know absence makes the heart grow fonder
But I wish more that you were here so by you I could be fondled
Caressed
Pampered
Loved
Kissed
Absence sharpens love but presence strengthens it
It’s been a while
And I miss you
